2019 CDR Technician: Train the Trainer
OPTIONAL CLASS: Held March 3, 2019: (the Sunday before the EDR Summit) 8:30am to 4:00pm
The CSI CDR Technician Train the Trainer program has been significantly updated for 2019. New topics and a revised topic order/flow highlight some of the changes to the CDR Technician course for 2019. The inclusion of material addressing the CDR 500, CDR 900, PPM and GM ASCM as well as a revision of topics such as repowering, meter checks and connection methodology highlight some of the changes for the Technician Train The Trainer program. Also new for 2019 is an expansion of training techniques (“tips and tricks”) to be offered during the Train The Trainer class making this a much more detailed trainer training session.
The CDR Technician Train the Trainer program has been developed to meet the need for an expanded number of regional training opportunities covering the basics of using the CDR Tool, help Technicians build confidence through standardized, individual, personalized guidance with supervised hands-on experience using the CDR Tool, and provide opportunities for small group or even one-on-one live guidance by a CDR Trainer/Mentor licensed to use the CSI Technician Training materials.
The CDR Technician Train the Trainer program gives the Trainer/Mentor the tools to lead new CDR Technicians into the expanding world of Crash Data Retrieval. Those who complete this program are licensed to use the standard Collision Safety Institute Technician Course materials for 2 years such that they might teach CDR Technician courses for their company, agency or even for others as part of a larger business model.
This is your opportunity to become a leader in the rapidly expanding area of CDR technology. When industry leaders meet to discuss the expansion of CDR technology, one topic always discussed is training and the need to have more qualified Technician trainers across North America to properly train entry level CDR Tool users. To help fill this need, we are pleased to offer a CDR Technician Train The Trainer Course to qualify and license individuals to instruct a standard CDR Technician Level course. Whether from the public or private sector, from police departments to reconstruction professionals, anyone who purchases a Bosch CDR Tool will need to take at least the CDR Technician course.

To qualify to take the CDR Tool Train the Trainer Course and become a CDR Technician Trainer Mentor, one has to have completed the Collision Safety Institute developed Technician courses offered by a Certified CDR Technician Trainer Mentor and the Collision Safety Institute CDR Data Analyst Course within the last two years. Those who have previously been certified as Trainer Mentors are welcome to return and renew their license to the materials every two years. CDR Courses offered by organizations other than the Collision Safety Institute, Collision Safety Institute trained Trainer Mentors or the Northwestern University’s Center for Public Safety do NOT meet these prerequisites. For questions about the prerequisites, please contact Collision Safety Institute: (281) 909-0745.
Please keep in mind this course is designed to enable an individual to present the most recent version of the Technician course materials. We set the prerequisites with the idea that people would be teaching from the same materials with the same recent background in those materials and we wouldn’t have to go over the skill set they would have if their own training and exposure to the materials were current. What we are doing is providing our materials to someone to teach from and there is a built in assumption that they are familiar with our current materials, comfortable with our philosophy and methods and, that way, when someone takes a Collision Safety Technician class in Denver or Alabama or Chicago, they’re getting the same materials, the same course: there’s consistency. For that reason, we insist on the prerequisites being met.
