CDR Technician

October 7-8, 2019 – Temecula, CA (CLASS IS FULL)

Instructor: Kent E. Boots & Thomas J. Potter, Kent E. Boots & Associates
Cost: $295.00 per person
Class: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Monday-Tuesday)
Location: 42206 Remington Ave, Temecula, CA 92590
ACTAR: approved for 16 CEUs

Course Description: This two-day course is best suited for field investigators, insurance investigators & adjusters, or those involved in vehicle documentation and examinations.  The course offers the attendee insight into the basic operation and use of the Bosch Crash Data  Retrieval (CDR) Tool, as well as learn the latest software and basic imaging techniques.

The course will provide an understanding of the components of the CDR Tool, exposing the user to the basic functions of the hardware and software so that, at a minimum, the user can confidently image and preserve data from supported vehicles using the standard OBD II (DLC) port, or in some cases directly from the airbag control module (ACM).

The hands-on practical exercises allow the students to image data from various supported modules.  The student will receive individual or small group guided instruction in the following:

  • In vehicle DLC data imaging
  • Evaluating vehicle condition for data collection
  • Module location and identification
  • Direct-to-module data imaging
  • Practical booster and adaptor applications (ACM, PCM)
  • “Repowering” vehicles and airbag control modules to allow in vehicle DLC data imaging

This hands-on instruction and subsequent evaluation by a Trainer/Mentor completes the CDR Technician Level certification.  The CDR Technician course does not go into any analysis of the imaged data.  The course is the basis for, and a required prerequisite for, the CDR Data Analyst’s course.

Advanced Troubleshooting & Vehicle Systems for the CDR Technician

October 9-11, 2019 – Temecula, CA (CLASS IS FULL)

Instructor: Kent E. Boots & Thomas J. Potter, Kent E. Boots & Associates
Cost: $500.00 per person
